Kutawato Caves in the Heart of Cotabato City

Nested in the northwest portion of Maguindanao, one of the component provinces of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Cotabato City is a favorite tourist destination. Visiting the places that the city is proud of can give foreign and local tourists a very unforgettable experience. Each of the places has its own way of bringing back visitors to the city’s historic past.

One tourist attraction of the city which is rich in historical and cultural legacy is the Kutawato Cave. Located at the foot of the “Tantawan” or P.C. Hill, it is the only cave in the entire country located in the heart of the city. It has four major entrances namely, Provincial Capitol Cave, Bagua Cave, Caverna Español, and the Kuweba ni Satur, all of which offer various natural attractions like rock formations, saltwater ponds, underground rivers, and an army of fruit bats. Each wide entrance offers a unique experience to visitors.

Found at the Barangay Poblacion I, featuring white walls with beige and brownish shades that glitter in the dark, the cave is reputed to be seven kilometers long and made of formidable solid rock.

Back to the Olden Times of Kutawato Caves

The city’s present name originated from these caves. "KUTA" means FORT and "WATO" means STONE, hence the name "Fort of Stone," which later on became Cotabato. The caves was once a haven to the natives during the Spanish era when the colony tried to convert them into the Castellan faith.

When the Japanese power spread all over the natives, it became a silent witness of many souls who were tortured and exploited through the hands of harsh colony. Their thirst for freedom and democracy echoed their faint moans and cries that were buried in the bosoms of the caves, muted for over half a century.

The Kutawato Caves Today

The historical caves was formally re-opened and blessed on September 19, 1996. It echoes a colorful past of the Cotabateños back to the days when no foreign foot yet trampled upon this island. Many locals visit the place and reminisce the rich past behind the heroism of their ancestors.

For many adventurers, it is an ideal and thrilling spot where they can do some spelunking activities. It is a good haven for tour especially for those students.

Taking a peek at the rich Kutawato history will give a realization how blessed our nation with the natural wonders and rich history as well.

Nasaan ang Paraiso?

At naglagay ang Panginoong Dios ng isang halamanan sa Eden, sa dakong silanganan: at inilagay niya roon ang taong kaniyang nilalang.

At pinatubo ng Panginoong Dios sa lupa ang lahat na punong kahoy na nakalulugod sa paningin, at mabubuting kanin; gayon din ang punong kahoy ng buhay sa gitna ng halamanan, at ang punong kahoy ng pagkakilala ng mabuti at masama.

At may isang ilog na lumabas sa Eden na dumilig sa halamanan; at mula roo’y nabahagi at nag apat na sanga.

Ang pangalan ng una ay Pison: na siyang lumiligid sa buong lupain ng Havilah, na doo’y may ginto;  At ang ginto sa lupang yao’y mabuti; mayroon din naman doong bedelio at batong onix.

At ang pangalan ng ikalawang ilog ay Gihon; na siyang lumiligid sa buong lupain ng Cush. At ang pangalan ng ikatlong ilog ay Hiddecel, na siyang umaagos sa tapat ng Asiria. At ang ikaapat na ilog ay ang Eufrates.

Maraming eksperto sa Bibliya ang naniniwala na ang Paraiso (o Garden of Eden), ang orihinal na tahanan nina Eba at Adan, ay matatagpuan sa Sumer, kung saan nagtatagpo ang mga ilog na Eupfrates at Hiddecel (o Tigris) sa Iraq.

Naniniwala sila na ang lugar na binabanggit sa Genesis ay repleksiyon ng sitwasyon noong ika-siyam at limang siglo B.C. habang ang Pison at Gihon ay mga sanga ng Eufrates at Tigris na nawala o natuyo na.

Israel

Mayroon namang nagsasabi na ang Garden of Eden ay matatagpuan sa tinaguriang Holy Land at ang orihinal na ilog na dumadaloy sa hardin bago ito nagsanga sa apat ay ang Jordan, na mas mahaba noong panahon ng Genesis.

Ang Gihon, anila, ay ang ilog Nile habang ang Havilah ay ang Arabian Peninsula.

Iniugnay din ng propetang si Ezekiel ang Eden sa Herusalem.

Sa Ezekiel 28:13-14, isinulat niya na, “Ikaw ay nasa Eden, na halamanan ng Dios; lahat na mahalagang bato ay iyong kasuutan, ang sardio, ang topacio, at ang diamante, ang berilo, ang onix, at ang jaspe, ang zafiro, ang esmeralda, at ang karbungko, at ang ginto: ang pagkayari ng iyong pandereta at iyong mga plauta ay napasa iyo; sa kaarawan na ikaw ay lalangin ay nangahanda.

Ikaw ang pinahirang kerubin na tumatakip: at itinatag kita, na anopa’t ikaw ay nasa ibabaw ng banal na bundok ng Dios; ikaw ay nagpanhik manaog sa gitna ng mga batong mahalaga.

” Sa tradisyong Hudyo at Kristiyano, ang “banal na bundok ng Dios” ay ang Mt. Moriah sa Herusalem.

Naniniwala sila na ang buong hardin ay nasasakop ang Herusalem, Betlehem at Mt. Olivet.

Africa

Dahil kinukunsidera na sina Adan at Eba ang unang tao at dahil ang pinakamatandang labi ng tao ay natagpuan sa hilagang Africa kaya malamang, hirit nila, matatagpuan ang Garden of Eden sa Africa.

Dagdag nila na ang Gihon ay isa sa mga umano’y pangalan ng ilog Nile sa Egypt.

Lemuria

Noong kalagitnaan ng ika-19 na siglo, isang teorya ang lumutang hinggil sa kontinente na umano’y sumakop sa malaking bahagi ng Indian Ocean.

Ang pangalang Lemuria ay nilikha ni P.L. Sclater, isang scientist, bilang pagkilala sa mga klase ng hayop sa ilalim ng pamilya ng lemur na matatagpuan lamang sa India at Madagascar, pero hindi makikita sa Africa o Gitnang Silangang Asya.

Iminungkahi naman ng ilang scientist na ang Lemuria ang sinilangan ng kabihasnan ng tao kaya posibleng ito ang lugar kung saan matatagpuan ang Garden of Eden.

Hilagang Turkey

Naniniwala naman ang ibang nag-aaral ng Bibliya na kung ang apat na ilog ay umaagos mula sa hardin, malaki ang posibilidad na ang hardin ay matatagpuan sa hilaga ng sibilisasyong Tigris-Eufrates.

Ipinalagay nila ang lugar sa hilagan Anatolia, partikular sa bulubundukin ng Armenia sa hilagang Turkey.

Egypt

Sinasabi ng mga supporter ng Egypt bilang posibilidad na lokasyon ng Garden of Eden na ang lupain sa rehiyon ng ilog Nile ay swak na swak sa deskripsyon ng lupa na nababasa, hindi ng ulan, kundi ng “ambon” na nagmumula mula sa lupa.

Speech For The Lovers

Ladies and gentleman, good evening. I who is in front of you will now speak about different things in a relationship. I know almost all of us here are already in a relationship, although not all but at least some had experienced once, twice or more. Who are you going to chose if you lovetwo different people at the same time? Is it love if you make and ask for promises? These are the questions that comes into my mind and found the answers coming from different sources. Tonight, I will be very glad to share with you everything I know which will open your eyes and heart to realize that loving and to be loved is not that easy, is not a game.

If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. One author said that love just didn't choose to rest in the other person’s heart. Remember that you don't choose love. Love chooses you. All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life. You can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to you. But if it chooses to leave from your heart or from the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and there is nothing you should do. We all forgot that the secret of love is that it is a gift, and that it can be made to grow only by giving it away. Give it back to the person who brought it alive in you. Now if you find someone else in love with you and you don't love them, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage my friends, do not cause pain.

Now, if there’s one of you here loving two different persons at the same time then ask your self this question honestly. When you are happy, which of the two would you want to share your happiness with? The one you think of is someone you love. Ask yourself another question and answer it honestly. “When you are sad, which person you want to share your burdens with?" The one you think of is also someone you love. Confused? Well, If you think of the same person when you are happy & sad, that's the most perfect. But if you don't think of the same person, I would advise you to choose the one you are willing to share your sadness with. Why? Because In life my friends, there are more sorrows than happiness. There are too many people that you meet that you can share your happiness with, not necessary your lover. And if you live your life happily, you can also enjoy it alone. If you are willing to tell someone your happiness, I am sure that person has got to be someone close & an understanding person to you. But in sadness, however, there are not many people willing to share your burdens with you, to stay by your side & ease your pain. If I were that person who you want to share your burdens with, only then, will I believe that I hold a very important position in your heart. Now if you are sad, who comes to your mind first?

When two people are in love, They both love to ask each other to swear, to make promises. Why do they ask each other to swear and promise? Because they don't trust each other. Yes, they don't trust their lover. These swear and promises are useless;

Till the sky falls, till the ocean dry, my love for u will never change! We all know that the sky will never fall; the ocean will never dry, Even if it does, are we still alive by

then? Be careful when making promises; don't make promises that you cannot keep.

Swear by things that can never happen, because it can never happen. In a relationship, what you say is one thing, but what you do is another.

Before having a relationship lovers should know that it would still end. Yes, relationship ends, and there were only two reasons for it; it may be death or a change of heart. No person will purposely have a change of heart. At the point in time when a person loves u, he/she really loves you, and can't even pretend that he/she doesn't. Same goes, when that person loves you no more, there's no way he/she can pretend he/she loves you. But when that person doesn't love you anymore, he really doesn't love you anymore. And if that person wants to leave, you must ask yourself if you still love them, if you don’t, do not keep them just to save your pride. Do not stop them from being happy to another persons arms. If you stop them from finding true happiness with the one they love, it shows you already don't love them. And if you don't love that person, what rights do you have to blame them for a change of heart?

When you are in love you cannot count all the reasons why you love. An author said, Yet regardless if you love them, hate them, wish they would die or know that you would die without them... it matters not. Because once in your life, whatever they were to the world they become everything to you. When you look them in the eyes, traveling to the depths of their souls and you say a million things without trace of a sound, you know that your own life is inevitable consumed within the rhythmic beatings of your lovers very heart. We love them for a million reasons, and I truly believe that no paper would do it justice. It is a thing not of the mind but of the heart. A feeling. Only felt.
